Acknowledgments

Several people and events have influenced and shaped my life over the course of the last four decades.

My father's death at the age of 44, due to complications from diabetes and a heart attack, and my mother's struggles with diabetes, constant dieting and fasting, and subsequent amputation have all motivated me to be insulin free and a frugivore. My parents taught me without words not to follow in their footsteps. I am forever grateful to them.

I am also grateful for my introduction to Vipassana meditation, as taught by S.N Goenka, at a very young age, and to Ramana Maharishi who appeared in my life seven years ago. My deepest gratitude to John Sherman, who helped me to recognize the truth of who I am.

A big thank you to all of the child amputees around the world, some of whom I have had the privilege to meet in the diabetic wards. Their spirit of love and kindness touched me deeply.

My gratitude to all of those brave souls who have had the integrity to stand up and say that a life of constant yo-yo dieting and fasting was not helping them, and was in fact making their condition worse.

Thank you to all of the kindred souls who have emailed me from around the world and given me feedback on how much the honest information on the “Frugivorelifstyle“ website has helped them.

I am indebted to Ali, my editor, buddy and the best sounding board on the planet. Thank you for editing this book without charging me for your expertise.

Finally, without grace, the deep, abiding stillness in each one of us, this book would not be possible. I feel very fortunate to have encountered grace. For this, I am eternally grateful.
